Do’s And Don’ts Of A Perfect Resume

While applying for a job, certain things should be kept in mind. The most important is to prepare
an appropriate resume for the desired job when there is no job application available. There are
many important elements that a perfect resume should contain and certain things that it should
not have. You can also consult a CV or Resume builder for the preparation of an appropriate
resume. I am going to discuss the dos and don’ts for an ideal resume which will definitely help
you in your job recruitment.

At the beginning, there should be your Contact Information with your full name at the top, your
postal address, telephone numbers and your email address. Never give your personal information
like marital status, number of children, ethnicity, religion and physical features etc. The
information in this section should be precise and should allow the prospective recruiter to contact
you easily in case you are short-listed. Never give telephone numbers that are mostly busy or
are not in use because it will put a very bad impression on the prospective recruiter. After that,
mention your Objective in one or two sentences but not more than that. The Objective should
be a precise statement depicting your ability to fulfill the job responsibilities. Never show your
expectations from the job rather mention your potential contribution to the prospective employer.

The proceeding part should be about your Career Highlights where you are required to mention
your professional experience related to the job you are applying for. Never use nicknames for
anyone and do not give reasons for quitting the previous jobs. Then mention the summary of
your Academic Qualifications with the latest degree at the top and the earliest at the bottom.
You should also mention the names of degree awarding institutions and the dates of awarding
those degrees. Mention the GPA only if it is above 3.0. If you have done any additional diplomas
or courses, they can be mentioned separately. The next part should be about your Professional
History where you are supposed to give the list of firms that you have worked for with the dates
of your employment and duties performed by you. Never mention the duties in paragraphs rather
use bullet points for that.

The next part gives the details of your professional skills like communication skills, management
skills, computer skills etc. Do not mention the skills that are not relevant to the job position
you are applying for. The proceeding part is usually about references but it is not necessary to
mention references until and unless required by the prospective recruiter. Never mention your
expected salary on the resume as it can be negotiated after the job offer. Use a high quality paper
for printing a resume and never make photocopy for submission to the prospective recruiter.
Always submit a neatly printed copy of your resume and never print on both sides of the paper.
The resume should be precise and should not exceed two pages. A perfectly formatted resume
will definitely help you in your job finding.

How to make an appropriate Job Application?

For getting the right kind of job, an appropriate job application is a prerequisite. Applicants
always wonder what went wrong and why they haven’t received any response from the firm they
had applied for. The answer lies with the way they make their job application because half of the
time they apply for a position which is actually not vacant. So it is very important for applicant
to know about different types of cover letters and how to make a professional resume.

There are two types of cover letters; solicited and unsolicited. The solicited cover letter is
used for the post advertised in newspapers or on internet. In solicited cover letter you give
reference to the advertisement that prompted you to apply for a certain position. This kind of
cover letter cannot be used for the jobs that are not advertised explicitly. In such a cover letter,
you are supposed to mention the post you are applying for clearly because the firm might have
advertized multiple posts in their advertisement and not mentioning the post will lead to an
immediate declination of a job application.

The other type of cover letter is unsolicited where you mention your aims and objectives
properly with brief description of your academic qualifications and professional experience. In
an unsolicited cover letter, you request the prospective employer to consider you in case there
is any vacancy available in the organization. In such letter you can describe certain skills that
you have which may be suitable for the organization. Never use unsolicited cover letter for the
advertised posts because such an application may be rejected.

The CV or resume should be very professionally developed. Nowadays, the employers are
so busy that they do not have time to go through ten or twenty pages CVs. So resumes are
the requirement of the day. If you are not confident enough that you can make a brief but
comprehensive resume then you may take the services of a professional resume builder. You
should follow a very realistic approach while developing a resume because the employers
will ultimately know about your actual worth through it. Hence, it is strongly recommended
to mention only that information which actually matches yours. No matter how qualified you
are; put only pertinent and salient qualifications and achievements on your resume. Do not go
on mentioning a flat race that you won in grade 3. In a resume you should preferably mention
those qualifications and professional experiences which are relevant to the post you are applying
for because it will save the time and energy of your prospective employer and this approach
will definitely be appreciated by him or her. Always provide proper postal address, telephone
numbers, email address and other contact information so that it may be easy for the employer to
contact you. If you follow these rules during your job finding, you may get job offers from the
top employers. These points are so important that they act as a basis for your job recruitment so
you should never take them lightly.

After the completing the education, the next step for every one is finding the right job. The
conventional methods of job finding like newspaper classified ads are not much popular these
days because all the jobs are not advertised in them and there is no categorization of fields or
disciplines. Finding the right job requires the right approach from your side. You need to be very
much objective oriented while seeking a job because a clear objective will not only help you
in finding the desired job but also your prospective employer to know that you have got a clear
vision of your goals in your mind which will definitely impress him or her. If you are not clear
about your objective by yourself, it may irritate the prospective employers because no one wants
to hire a person who blows away where wind takes him.

The first step is to develop an appropriate CV or resume that can depict all your qualifications
and skills perfectly. A resume acts as an advertisement of your skills so it ought to be very
impressive. You have to format all the parts professionally and you can hire the services of
a professional resume builder for this purpose. A cover letter is also very important in this
regard. Using you personal contacts for finding a job is at times very helpful because you may
not be able to know about a vacant position that is ideal for you through any other source. So the
personal contacts can help you to find such an opportunity for you.

Internet has make it very easy to find a suitable job for you as there are a lot of job finding
websites these days which advertise different categories of jobs from various employers that
might be waiting for you. These websites advertise the jobs on daily basis all around the world
or in a specific country. You can simply upload your resume on such websites and wait for job
offers from various employers. Such websites also provide the option to mention your expected
salary which makes it much easier for you to find the right job with the desired pay. This method
is the most suitable as it saves a lot of time and money.

Many firms also give you an option to apply online for a job position where there is a proper job
application form available at their websites to be filled by you. While applying for a job, you
should be aware of the organization properly for which you are applying and also the industry
in which that organization falls so that you may adapt with the changing market trends. Today’s
competitive world ensures survival of the fittest so it is very important that you should keep on
adding feathers to your hat that can be some short courses, diplomas on software or language
skills so that you can keep pace with the rapidly changing times. Such an approach will likely to

Job Recruitment- Staffing And Management

The job seekers usually have no idea during job finding about what to expect from a prospective
employer. So they only focus on developing an attractive resume or CV for a job application
and sometimes hire the services of resume builder for this purpose and expect multiple job
offers after that. But actually employees are the ones who can make or break an organization.
They serve as a spinal cord when they put productive effort to meet an organization’s goals.
So the big responsibility rests on the shoulders of the management to select the right kind of
the people for the right kind of job at the right time. Job recruitment implies to identifying,
hiring, motivating and keeping competent employees who suit the job requirement. There are
several devices used to select potential employees like performance-simulation tests, realistic
job preview (RJP), written tests and interview etc. In performance-simulation test, a candidate is
judged on actual job behavior at the assessment centers. The written tests include intelligence,
aptitude, ability and interest test patterns. In RJP, a candidate is provided with positive and
negative information about the job and organization and he or she is judged on their responses to
the information provided.

The widely used selection device is interview which is very effective if it is conducted correctly.
It determines a candidate’s intelligence, level of motivation, confidence and other interpersonal
skills. The professional organizations usually conduct structured interviews where the questions
or criterion of judgment is predefined for the prospective candidates. But in any interview
employers look for a candidate with a sound technical knowledge and good interpersonal skills
and in today’s world employers prefer people having proficiency in multiple languages and
with good management skills. Interviews have two types apart from structured and unstructured
interviews which are ordinary interviews and behavioral or situational interviews. In the
second type, the applicant is judged not only what he or she says but how he or she behaves in
certain circumstances especially under stress e.g. the candidates are presented with complicated
situations and asked to deal with them. These kinds of interviews are more effective than other
types of interviews.

Once a person is selected, he or she has a lot of pressure or stranger’s anxiety when entering
a new setup like the pre-game jitters which is a combination of excitement and fear. So it is
an important part of job recruitment and a responsibility of management to conduct employee
orientation i.e. to introduce the new employee to the organization so that he or she gets familiar
with the job and the people he or she would be working with.

The job recruitment function also focuses on performance, compensations and dealing with the
performance related problems of the employees. The key point in job recruitment is matching
the skills of the employee with the suitable task. Unmatched skills leads to job dissatisfaction
and performance related issues but if it’s not the unmatched skills which are hampering the
performance of the employees then the management should provide the troubled employee with
proper counseling.
